October is nationally recognized as Pregnancy Loss and Awareness Month. This is a time to honor and remember the lives lost too soon and to extend our collective support to those who grieve.
At VFP Pharmacy Group, we want to acknowledge this significant month and express our heartfelt empathy to all who have experienced this unimaginable loss. We understand that the grief of losing a pregnancy or an infant is profound, often silent, and can be an isolating experience.
Why Awareness Matters
Raising awareness about pregnancy and infant loss is crucial. It's not just about acknowledging the pain and sorrow that comes with such loss but also about breaking the silence that often surrounds these topics. Many parents suffer in silence due to societal norms or fear of judgment. By bringing these conversations into the open, we create a safe space for healing and connection.
Awareness also leads to better resources and support for grieving parents. It encourages research and education, which can lead to improvements in medical practices, mental health services, and policy changes that can help prevent future losses and provide better care for those who have experienced a loss.
In the spirit of awareness, we’d like to share the following resources with anyone who may benefit from them:
- RESOLVE is a patient advocacy organization that supports individuals and families who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or a baby, offering resources, community connections, and advocacy for improved care and understanding.
- Miscarriage for Men is a support network that provides resources, guidance, and community to men who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy or a baby, offering a safe space for them to express their grief and seek support.
- Rachel’s Gift collaborates with hospitals to provide specialized programs, education, resources, and support for parents and caregivers experiencing the loss of a child or pregnancy.
- Star Legacy Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to research and education, providing awareness, advocacy, prevention strategies, and free family support for those who have experienced loss.
- Sisters in Loss provides support to black women women through storytelling, community, and educational resources, helping them navigate the grief associated with pregnancy and infant loss.
